Our VOISES, Our Truth event - Oct, 11th, 2022
On October 11th, National Coming Out Day, the VOISES for Youth program hosted a speaker event, at The Peale Museum in Baltimore City. The event was specially curated for Baltimore's youth to listen to stories about the struggles and triumphs of openly accepting their queer identity, and what it means to be a part of the community, told by members of the community. The speakers were:
Charles Xavier Kilborn - a Baltimore native, an outspoken trans rights activist, and a screenwriter
James Conley III - also a Baltimore native, Community Health Specialist, and Peer Navigator with VOISES, a star on the hit show Legendary (known in ballroom circles as Legendary Lil James Khan), as well as his mother, Jacqueline Beverly-Williams.
Chris-De-Vaun Odenkyem-Wade and his husband, Marcus Parker-Wade - MD transplants, by way of upstate NY.
Londyn Smith de Richelieu - a native of Baltimore and the current Director of the Office of LGBTQ Affairs, within Baltimore City county government. She is the first woman of trans experience to hold a government position in Baltimore.
