It’s important to note that PrEP does NOT protect against STI’s. The only protection against STI’s is condoms!
What is PEP?
PEP stands for post-exposure prophylaxis. This medication is designed to be taken after a person thinks they’ve been exposed to HIV. PEP has to be taken within 72 hours (3 days) after exposure. The sooner a person starts, the better. PEP is only for emergencies and cannot replace PrEP or condoms.
